Forest Finland

It is a place for excursions, berry picking, hunting, walking your dog, a place to enjoy nature.
It is a workplace, a source of income and an investment in the future.
It is a treasure trove of diversity.
It produces sustainable solutions for our everyday lives.
It is the forest.

Forest Finland tells about all this

Forest Finland is the joint communication project of the Finnish forest sector, launched in May 2020. The campaign will awaken and raise peoples’ interest and encourage discussion about the forests’ and wood-based products role in everything we have in Finland.

Forest Finland talks about the sustainability of the use of the northern forests and about the solutions the sustainable use of them offers. The forest will be seen on TV and heard on the radio, in outdoor advertising and in social media.

It produces sustainable solutions for our everyday lives.

Forest Finland updates our perception of modern forestry. It presents products one could not imagine being made using wood. Outdoor advertising and social media reveal surprising facts about Finland’s forests and Finnish forestry:

  • In Finland, 150,000,000 trees are planted each year
  • Finns live on average 700 meters from the nearest forest
  • 75 percent of Finland’s area consists of forest
  • More than half of Europe’s protected forests are in Finland
  • There is over 50% more timber than 50 years ago in Finland’s forests
  • After a tree is felled, four new trees are planted in Finland

Funders of Forest Finland

The project have been funded by several actors of the forest sector, such as the Finnish Forest Foundation, the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, Metsähallitus (State forest agency), The Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners MTK, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Finnish Forest Centre, the Wood Processing Engineers and the Metsämiesten Säätiö Foundation. In addition, The Paper Workers’ Union and the Industrial Union of Finland have also participated in the planning of the campaign.

The latest campaign in March 2024 will be financed by a number of Finnish Forest Industries member companies and the Finnish Forest Foundation.

The project is led by the Finnish Forest Association.
